Shalimar est un parfum qui a vu le jour en plein dans le courant des Années Folles. Il est né en 1925 et s’inspire d’une légende indienne du XVIIe siècle, nous traduisant dans le même temps l’amour pour l’Orient de Jacques Guerlain ainsi que son goût pour l’opulence.

L’histoire raconte que l’empereur Shah Jahan était tombé follement amoureux de Mumtaz Mahal et que tous deux vivaient leur amour dans de somptueux jardins construits spécialement à cet effet par l’empereur, à Lahore, et nommés les jardins de Shalimar. D’ailleurs, en sanskrit, la langue indienne, Shalimar signifie « temple de l’amour ». Néanmoins, au décès de sa bien-aimée, l’empereur, dévasté par le chagrin, fit construire, entre 1631 et 1641, le plus beau des mausolées au cœur de ce jardin. Celui-ci est aujourd’hui connu de tous : il s’agit du Taj Mahal. L’histoire ayant ému Jacques Guerlain, il décida d’en faire un parfum qui deviendrait une véritable légende.

Aussi, cela fait près d’un siècle que cette essence fascine le monde entier. À ce titre, elle a été légèrement modernisée en 2008, devenant Eau de Shalimar. En 2014, Shalimar se réinventa sous la forme d’un Souffle de Parfum avant de devenir une Cologne, en 2015. Aussi, c’est précisément dans cette lignée prestigieuse que s’inscrit le nouveau Souffle d’Or de Shalimar.

Souffle d’Or de Shalimar se présente dans un flacon très inspiré de l’original de cette collection. Celui-ci avait été élaboré par Raymond Guerlain, en collaboration avec Baccarat et remporta le premier prix de l’Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris en 1925.

Il s’agit d’une vasque sur pied ciselé inspirée du mouvement de l’eau jaillissant d’une fontaine des jardins de Shalimar. En revanche, le nouveau Souffle d’Or de Shalimar ne possède pas de bouchon à proprement parler. Il s’agit d’un écrin doté d’une poire vaporisatrice au look particulièrement rétro. L’ensemble est également pensé dans une teinte bleu nuit typique des Années Folles et s’avère être très élégant. Il vaporise alors une poudre d’or fin convenant au corps et aux cheveux et subtilement parfumée. Ses notes odorantes ne sont pas sans évoquer celles de son prédécesseur, Shalimar Souffle de Parfum. Le tout débute par une douceur fraîche et dynamisante de bergamote avant d’évoluer vers un cœur très ensoleillé. Celui-ci contient, en outre, de la fleur d’oranger.

Enfin, Souffle d’Or de Shalimar laisse derrière lui un sillage ensorcelant à base de vanille, une senteur particulièrement chaleureuse et réconfortante.
